Sunday Morning - Fall II Session
November 2 - December 7
10:30 Classes
VITAL KOINE GREEK WORDS OF THE NEW TESTAMENT (NT)
Each word study will select a vital Greek word as it occurs in the NT and briefly indicate its use in the common speech of NT times. Albeit it is not the words themselves which matter, but the inspired writers who used them. The Biblical references given in the class are most important; the best commentary on Holy Scripture being the Scripture itself! “Every scripture is God breathed” (2 Tim 3:16)
In this class you will have the opportunity to easily learn the Greek alphabet, its pronunciation; and pronounce some of the common language of our Lord Jesus Christ, the eclectic writers of the NT, and the common people for whom the NT was written.
The Bible (βιβλος) of your choice will be our text. The teacher (Διδασκελος) will be Jerry Crosby, a slave (Δουλος) of Jesus Christ (χριστος). The words which we will study are: Angel, Christ, slave, the church, holy and God. The class is 6 weeks long.
LUTHER’S QUEST FOR THE TRUTH
Martin Luther was named by Time magazine as one of the top 10 most influential thinkers of the First Millennium. In this 6 session class, we’ll study his personal struggles and the breakthrough ideas that changed the course of Western Christianity forever. Come to learn more about what it means to be a Christian within the Lutheran/Reformation tradition, and learn more about viewing scripture through the eyes of one of the world’s great thinkers. Ken Edwins and Pete Faur will facilitate this class.
SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES: AN INTRODUCTION
This class will examine a different spiritual discipline each week like fasting, solitude and Bible reading. The word “discipline” often leaves a negative impression, but these disciplines can bring real joy as they help us to mature in Christ and to be more open to the work of the Spirit in our lives. This 6 week class will be lead by Pastor Carol Peters and Pastor Jeff Ruby.
