'For I was hungry and you fed me, thirsty and you gave me water; a stranger and you invited me into your homes; naked and you clothed me; sick and in prison and you visited me.’ Then Jesus said, ‘When you did it for the least of these, you were doing it for me!'
   - Matthew 25:35-36, 40.

Jesus’ concern with other people’s problems sometimes brought Him in conflict with the authorities and with the laws. Jesus healed the sick on the Sabbath. Jesus upset the tables of the moneychangers. In fact, Jesus upset many people because He told them to do as He did by loving their neighbors as themselves. On one occasion, Jesus described the righteous as those who acted: those who fed the hungry; gave drink to the thirsty; welcomed the stranger; clothed the naked; visited the sick and prisoners.

La Casa's Mission to South Africa

La Casa in South Africa!

New church in MolelwaneAt their August meeting, the Board of Trustees approved La Casa’s adoption of an entire South African village for the next three years. The village, visited by our team in May, is called Molelwane. Helping Hands in Africa has waited two years for tribal approval to purchase land.

La Casa is building  (see right) a church/community center which will also house a five-day a week feeding program and provide a three year commitment for Orphan care, Feeding ministry, and AIDS hospice care.

Our first check toward the construction of the church/community center has been sent, and they have broken ground. A second team from La Casa will journey to Africa in August 2008. Our high school and junior high students are raising $3000 to provide a well for the community.  To read the thank you letter from the African mission, click here.

You can make your donations to La Casa de Cristo marked "South Africa" if you want to help!  Our commitment will be $50,000 a year for three years.
