Literacy Volunteer Tutors
Want to make an immediate difference in someone's life? Literacy Volunteers of Maricopa County (LVMC) is seeking tutors to teach adults reading and English as a second language. If you can speak English, you can become a tutor. To qualify as a tutor you must be 18 or older, have a high school diploma, and be willing to commit to meeting with a student approximately four hours per week for nine months. Cost of training is $30 to cover materials.

So far, 85 students have graduated from at least one semester of English as a Second Language classes we have taught through La Sagrada Familia. Shown is a scene from the Summer Class celebrating graduation.
A new semester of English as a second language classes began at Palomino Elementary School Tuesday, April 12, and will continue for 10 weeks. To volunteer or for more information, call Kerry Rice at 480-483-3254.
You may volunteer to be a qualified Literacy Volunteer Tutor. You will be trained to help teach adults to read, write, and speak English and prepare for the GED.

Materials are provided, and all you need to know is how to speak English. The tests will be given at the cafeteria at Palomino I Elementary School, 15833 N. 29th Street.

Here's your opportunity to follow God's call to serve his pepole. La Sagrada Familia needs tutors to volunteer as team teachers for the fall semester, beginning Tuesday, September 11. No experience or special training is required. Classes will be held on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. All NEW mterials will be provided. Sign up today in the courtyard.
