Blanket Drive

Social Outreach Ministry

New and slightly used clean blankets and sleeping bags are collected, stored and distributed to our Christmas “Angel Tree” families and other families during the winter months.

To participate in this program, simply purchase a new blanket or wash, fold, package and deliver a used blanket in good condition to the church office labeled for the Social Outreach Ministry blanket drive.

September 2007 Update

Blanket DriveDespite above-normal, still triple-digit temperatures in the air, darkness is falling earlier, and it is starting to feel cooler at night. Which can mean only one thing…it is time for La Casa de Cristo’s annual blanket drive. We collect blankets each fall to distribute to our Christmas Angel Tree families along with our food baskets and gifts.

Please comb your own linen closets, store clearance bins, and your neighborhood garage sale for new or gently used blankets to bring on this year’s collection dates: Sundays, September 30 and October 7.

Please make sure they are clean, and package them individually in plastic bags labeled with the blanket’s size. If you have questions, call coordinator Barbara Halaburda at 480-585-7494.

2007 Annual Blanket Drive

The season of throwing the blankets OFF of our beds will come this fall, reminding us that it will soon be time to collect blankets to deliver along with food baskets and Christmas gifts during our annual Christmas Angel Tree project.

Blankets will be collected on two Sundays. Please bring clean, gently used or new blankets, in plastic bags and labeled with their size. If you have questions, please call this year’s coordinator, Barbara Halaburda, at480-585-7494.

Watch for a Sale

Every family who receives gifts and food through our congregation’s Christmas Angel Tree program also receives new or gently used blankets. As you clean out your linen closet and search for bargains at the store or in neighborhood garage sales, please keep these needy families in mind.  We are hoping to have a bountiful “harvest” of blankets that we can give to our Christmas Angel Tree families each winter.
