St. Vincent de Paul

Social Outreach Ministry

For over 14 years, La Casa has partnered with St. Vincent de Paul by sending volunteers to serve a noon meal to the homeless the first Sunday of every month.

Opportunity to help feed the hungry

Through the years, there have been many faithful volunteers, including the late Elmer Wessel, who have given so generously of their time month after month. (More volunteers than we could possible list, but thank you to all of you; you know who you are.) The gift of their time and effort has been priceless.  If YOU want to help, you must be at least 14 years old and be available from 9:15am – 1 pm.

It is guaranteed that you will go home knowing you have been blessed to be a blessing.  If you would like to have an opportunity to experience this worthwhile activity, sign-ups are at the Information Table at church on Sundays, or you can call the church office during the week.

Volunteer members from LCdC work with the staff of St. Vincent de Paul to serve the noon meal on the first Sunday of each month. Actual assignments are made upon arrival. The group leaves from the church at 9:15 AM (or you can meet us there at 10:00 AM). The dining room is located at 1025 W. Jackson.

The group usually is done around 1:00 PM, and then some stay for lunch.  This outreach program is in its 14th year of service to our community.

The following message was received from St. Vincent de Paul of Arizona:

Thank you, and everyone who participates from La Casa de Cristo, for choosing St. Vincent de Paul for your volunteer experience. We would not be able to function if it weren’t for volunteers like you who give their time so unselfishly. Your presence in our Sunday Noon Meal really makes a difference. Those who struggle to survive on a day to day basis, who have so little or maybe nothing, benefit from your kindness and recognition that they are there, especially the children.
We appreciate that you share the mission of St. Vincent de Paul with us: To serve those in need, with dignity and respect, while providing the opportunity for others to serve. This is a privilege for us all, never knowing how far reaching it can be.
Blessings to you and everyone at La Casa de Cristo, today and always.
Sincerely,
Gabriela Bova
