A Border Run with Bibles!

Dear friends and family.

God continues to pour out His blessings on our family through your prayers, encouragement, and financial support. Our family just returned from our border run to Panama. We must leave the country every 3 months, and God always opens the doors for us to minister as we travel. For a week, we served on Isla Bastimentos, a small island off the coast of Panama in the Bocas del Toro island chain. God blessed us with the opportunity to bless the YWAM work on the island by taking care of the house while the leaders traveled to the US. Before we left, God placed a burden on Ryan's heart to take the Word of God to the Ngobe people. As many of you know, this people group holds a very special place in our hearts. Needless to say, we were in awe as God connected us with a ministry here in Costa Rica that willingly donated 100 New Testaments in Ngobere, the Ngobe language. (They were beautiful full sized faux leather bound J) Then the adventure began.

We traveled the YWAM way, by bus for 6 hours, by feet as we literally walked across the border with 2 kids and Bibles in tow, by car to a boat dock, and by boat through old banana boat canals to the island. Arriving on the island, we celebrated with our friends on the 1st anniversary of their ministry then sent them on their way. During our stay, we were blessed to hand deliver some of the precious Bibles. The first man, Tebuchio, a new Ngobe believer, took the Bible carefully in his hands and looked at Ryan asking in Spanish "Who wrote this?" He was asking who knew his language and took the time to write God's Word so he could truly read and understand. His family gathered around the Bible, carefully looking through it and treating it with the priceless dignity and that it deserves. Never before have we been so thankful for the tireless work of Bible translators who painstakingly translate God's Word into the heart language of so many. God also blessed us with time to play with the nearby Ngobe children (for Sarah's heart), lead a Ngobe church service (for Ryan's heart), travel to the beach (for Caleb's heart) and travel everywhere by motor boat (for Josh's heart).

Now that we are back home in Heredia, we are busy preparing for the upcoming DTS, working diligently to launch KidzReach in October, serving in our local community, working with La Roca (the Rock) ministry and simply being a missionary family. We eagerly look forward to the next few months as God has wonderful surprises in store for all of us.

As we enter into a new month, we would be blessed by your prayers for

· God's hand to move in the lives of the students in this DTS (which begins Sept. 17th)

· The birth of the KidzReach ministry (October 6th & 7th)

· God's guidance as He leads our family's every step

All our love,

Ryan, Sarah, Joshua, and Caleb
