“Finishing Strong!”

Hombres de Cristo,
I am very excited that "Finishing Strong" will not only be our theme for the upcoming retreat in September (make sure to register now, we are over half full!), but also our theme for 2007-08.
Based on Hebrews 12:1-2, "Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Jesus!"
What does it mean to Finish Strong? It means:
- We run the race of life for Jesus. We sometimes stumble, fall, or take a detour, but he picks us up!
- We are not running alone. Christ runs with us, and that all began in the waters of baptism. All who wander are not lost!
- We have fellow runners. Other men we are accountable to, and we should not be "lone rangers", but in a discipleship or small group with other men to assist us !
- We fix our eyes on the prize, which is Jesus. But we also know his gift of the kingdom is for the here and now, so we stop along the track and help a friend, we lift up another racer who has fallen, we minister to the least and last! While our eyes are fixed the finish line, the race is a long one, and we have to pace ourselves!
Men of La Casa, I am excited about all the new things happening! Watch for our breakfasts to resume in August. Our PHD ministry continues ! We have two new young men's groups! We now have 16 men's groups meeting weekly! We will have an awesome retreat in September, and a new eight week series called "Dream: Catching God's Vision" this fall!
Let us all "Finish Strong" as we run the race with perseverance, and as we fix our eyes on Jesus!
In Christ,
Pastor Jeff Ruby
