Autism Resource Meetings (ARMS!)
Tuesday, February 28, 2012 at 7pm
Classroom B Fellowship Hall Building

Do you have a family member with autism? Are you feeling disconnected?

We want to invite you to this new group! It will be a place to discuss what works and to share ideas. Parents need and deserve to feel good about the amazing job they do parenting children who face unbelievable daily challenges.

We also want to educate our community. Some meetings will be dedicated to teaching about autism to others: teachers, grandparents, family members, Sunday school leaders, friends who want to support you but might not know how.

Parents with children on the spectrum of autism try to explain to everyone, almost everywhere:

  • at the grocery store
  • at school
  • at church
  • at extra-curricular events

Why...

  • our kids might behave differently
  • they have meltdowns
  • talk to themselves
  • they don’t look at people when they speak to them
  • they don’t always answer the question they were asked
  • they have a favorite topic that they want to talk about all the time

We endure the “Why can’t you control your child?” look on a regular basis.

Please join us at our first Autism Resource Meetings, whether you know someone on the spectrum of autism or with similar traits, or just want to learn more.

Our initial meeting will help us determine how to best support and educate our community, both families with children on the spectrum and others who would like to know more about the diagnosis. Your input and your questions will be extremely valuable to the success of this group!

If you have questions feel free to email Katie Murwin. KTMurwin@gmail.com
