Our Sanctuary

Our Sanctuary was Dedicated to the glory of God on Palm Sunday, April 13, 2003

Key milestones in the construction:

  • On Palm Sunday, March 24, 2002,  we broke ground for the sanctuary.
  • On April 1, 2002 construction began.
  • On October 6, 2002 the Cross was set on top of the Bell Tower and the congregation walked through the unfinished Sanctuary.
  • On February 6, 2003 the Sanctuary was opened to the congregation to see the progress.

The Courtyard

Dedicated on November 6, 2005

It features a fountain, a sculpture, walkways from the Sanctuary to other buildings on campus, lighting, benches, and a nice grassy area.

The title of the sculpture is “Friends.” which Ray Martens, the sculptor, wanted to convey most of all that we are Christ’s children. “He takes us into his arms and protects us,” he said. “He’s a savior to us whatever century we live in.”  Ray lives in Columbia, Maryland, with his wife Prisca. Ray and Prisca are a lifelong Lutherans and teach at Towson University.
