7th and 8th Grade
Purpose
The Junior High Ministry Program at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church is designed to give Junior High youth a sense of belonging to the body of Christ through understanding the Bible, through fellowship with peers and adult mentor, and through service to the church and the community.
The Junior High Ministry Program at La Casa de Cristo Lutheran Church is designed and coordinated by Amy Anderson and many, many hardworking, enthusiastic and energetic volunteers. [See Parents]
Your talents, and skills can enhance our program and richly bless our youth! If you would like to volunteer to make a difference in young lives for Christ, please call Neil or Amy at the church office (480.948.1234, ex. 1117), and she/he will be in contact with you.
Confirmation is an ministry focused on education, geared toward teaching students about the "basics" of Christian faith, life, community, and history. It takes four semesters, usually during 7th and 8th grade, and ends with the student and their class getting "confirmed." For more information, see the Confirmation Page.
First and Second Year Course Study
Level 1 & 2 classes are held either on Tuesday or Wednesday evenings from fall through spring. Classes focus on instruction in Luther’s Small Catechism, service projects, small groups, fun and fellowship. Classes are supplemented by discussions, activities and small groups.
Summer camp is a requirement for students between Levels 1 & 2.
Sunday School happens each week at 11:45 am. During our hour together we'll worship God, learn about Him, and spend time with each other in small groups. You can join us at any time!
Social Events take place once a month and they are so much fun! In the past, we have gone to concerts, rock climbing, bowling, ice skating, and had movie nights, scavenger hunts, lock-ins, pool parties... you name it, we've probably done it! Our two major events that happen every year are the Fall Retreat and the Disneyland Turnaround Trip. Each month, we send out a calendar which will fill you in on all the upcoming happenings. Information for each event will be mailed in plenty of time for you to sign up!
Bible Study
This fall we'll have a new opportunity for junior high girls: a Bible study just for you! Amy Anderson will be your leader, and we'll talk about topics that you're dealing with every day--parents, friends, clothes, boys, and most importantly, who you are in God's eyes. We'll also have time for some fun projects and activities, and each week you'll get to take home a fabulous gift to remind you what you've learned. Get excited, and watch for a registration form coming to your mailbox (and this website!) this summer!
Musical Opportunities
And if you're musical, contact the Music Office about their opportunities to be involved with vocal choirs, instrumental ensembles, and handbell choirs!
Parental Support
Parenting classes are offered at various times throughout the year through Adult Education, and lots of other support for parents is available through Men's and Women's ministries. Watch our junior high calendar for events for your kids, and the church newsletter for opportunities for parents!
Parental Involvement
Parental involvement is critical to the success of our Junior High Ministry and Confirmation program. Opportunities to help are many and varied, from teaching Sunday School to driving on field trips, helping at a winter retreat, preparing or serving snacks; helping with service or social events — there is a place for every parent to assist this ministry!
